Obituary for Lonell "Pee Wee" Hall

Lonell Hall, 54, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on October 3, 2019.

A message to my family and friends:
Hearing the news of my death took you by surprise; and has surely caused you much grief and sorrow. Although I may have not said or showed it enough: I loved you each in my own special way. I know you loved me, too. Your prayers for God’s redeeming power to save me from seemly ‘wayward’ ways uplifted and encouraged me.

To my children:
You are my proudest accomplishment! The day each of you were born, filled my heart with such an overwhelming joy that only a parent can know. Together or apart, you were always in my heart and loved.

To my twin:
We were together from the very beginning in our mother’s womb. You were the first one to “know” me and held a very special place in my heart. So, so many times I really ‘ticked’ you off…yet, you always found compassion in your heart to forgive me of my shortcomings. I am forever grateful that you were the wind beneath my wings.

God saw that it was time and called me to eternal rest. Weep if need, but not too long. Life is short, so enjoy it with passion and make a difference in the world while you can. In the words of Tupac, be a rose that grows from the concrete!

My earthly journey has ended; my spirit and soul has been set free.

A twin, Lonell was born into the family of the late Lathan, Sr. and Ethel Perkins Hall on October 19, 1964. He is survived by five children; five grandchildren, four brothers, five sisters; and three aunts.

Lonell began participating in sports at an early age in the Pee Wee Leagues. Hence, being one of the smallest players, he was affectionately ascribed his family nickname “Pee Wee”. He was educated in the Avondale elementary and secondary school system and graduated from Agua Fria High School. Throughout elementary, junior high and high school, he continued excelling at football, basketball, and baseball.

In his youth, Lonell attended Morning Star Baptist Church in Avondale, and there he accepted Jesus Christ into his life.

“Nell” - later in years to many - had a fun and outgoing personality, and was free-spirited. He possessed a comical sense of humor, and was always stylish. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as part of the family tradition. In addition, he enjoyed tinkering with cars, fixing and building things. He worked many years as a skilled tradesman in various construction industries. In addition, he ‘dabbled’ in writing poetry and enjoyed listening to music- especially Tupac.

Lonell will be deeply missed by his family, friends and many who knew him. In his memory, donations may be made to ViVRE Recovery Housing .

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
