Obituary for Samuel Everett Pride

Samuel Everett “Big Sam” Pride was born August 16, 1937 to his beloved mother and father in Amarillo Texas, he was one of eleven children. Samuel passed away peacefully March 10, 2020 with his grand-daughters by his side. When he was just a young boy his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. As a teenager Samuel enjoyed boxing. In 1962 he was the Golden Gloves heavy weight champion; he held this title four times.
In 1974 he meets the love of his life Alvera English, they later married in 1977. Samuel made it his priority to be the father and provider to her six children and their grandchildren. He later found joy in driving trucks, he retired from Spalding Salt with more than forty years of service. Samuel was the life of the party, he enjoyed grilling for family gatherings. He was a die heart Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Suns fan. He also enjoyed listening to music, one of his favorite songs was “Don’t Stop the Music.”
Samuel is proceeded in death by his parents, his beloved sister Onne Mae “sister” Refford, his brother Jabbo Pride, the love of is life Alvera Pride, his children Susan Pride, Clifton English, his grandchildren Anthony Box and Courtney Austin. He leaves to cherish his memory, five children, twenty-three grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and his special niece Vanessa Ayers, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
